Happy Independence Day! This was Lucy’s first “real” 4th of July, because she actually stayed up for all the festivities! Yesterday was filled with a cookout followed by Nashville’s (#2 in the country!) amazing fireworks show. Here are some pics:
Lucy’s outfit was graciously provided by her great grandma and great aunt Jane. And I had to get her some flags to wave!
The cookout was great, including a “game” of t-ball. Even Lucy got to take a turn at the bat!
After that, it was fireworks time. We went to East Park to watch, where it’s family-friendly and relaxed. Downtown Nashville is a little too crazy for having a toddler! Needless to say, Lucy’s mind was blown! My favorite quotes from the night include her saying, “Woah! So many colors!” and turning to me in the middle of the show and saying, “Happy Fourth of July, mommy!” Ahh, I sure do love that girl and her bottomless excitement! Her friend Shiveley was with us (the son of one of my besties, Lis) and he was equally enthralled. So much fun!
And this morning, we continued the festivities (after sleeping in a bit) with a gorgeous hike. Whit made sure to continue the patriotic theme…
I want to bottle up these days! Sweet, sweet times.
